Plot 23

House numbers 19 & 21 built c1870

Plot 23 was acquired by William Pitt when Pitt Shone & Wood divided the Park up for their individual ownership. By August 1857 he had sold half the plot to George Holland also a railway clerk of similar age. It is likely that they both then built. Although the properties are not named the two families are recorded in the 1871 census and the 1872 OS survey records the name Hawthorn Villas. The style is classic Victorian double villa of the time and both probably with stable/coachouses.
