Micheal Brown of Westview in the 1950's
Micheal Brown a young boy in the early 1950's living in Westview (no:80)
revisited his old home in the late 1990's and reflected...
-
Horsedrawn milkcart and sledge in winter. Browns had an old army sledge
and Micheal would help the Bache shop milkman deliver to the Park.
-
Putting out fire ash to fill the potholes in the road.
-
Cattle in the field (now council playing field); the pond and a
big deep hole in vacinity of where putting green is now. At least 20foot
deep and good for winter sledging.
-
the 'elite' park ended at the covenanted boundary. It wasn't done
to mix with those 'in the lane'.
-
'Garden House' still had the large orchard. An old lady lived there -
very strict and old fashioned with a maid wearing a blue chequered skirt.
-
Mill orchard still existed
